Lenny Pt. 1

This is a story I started in 2015.  I'm finally at a point I can continue/finish it.  Now on with the show!

Lenny Vicuna was your typical alien from, well, let's just say an alien planet.  Lenny's native language doesn't translate well into any Earth language. Yet his race had the ability to learn any language quickly.   Lenny's real name was his planet's equivalent of Jim Smith or Tom Jones, not unusual.  His job was also equivalent of a paper pusher, button clicker or test tube spinner.  He started off in an entry-level position and worked his way up few levels.  Wasn't the best, certainly not the worst.  Did a few good things that got him some recognition.

He had a group of friends that he hung out with doing all the normal things the aliens on his planet did.  Lenny's life on his planet wasn't really that bad.  He got by.

Yet Lenny felt that he needed something else.  He wasn't sure what.  So he lived his life and got by always with the feeling there should be something more.

Then one day he nearly slept through his entire shift and still managed to do his job in his sleep.  It was then he knew he had to take drastic measures.  He took off for Human Resources (his job's version anyway) and wanted to know if there were any other openings anywhere else.

Turns out there was an opening in their Earth branch.  Lenny didn't even give the clerk the time to give him details before he said yes.  Before he could go Lenny had to fill out a packet for transfer.  First up was getting a more Earth appropriate name.  The clerk clicked some buttons and the name "Lenny Vicuna" showed up.  Lenny shrugged and decided he could live with it.

After two weeks of Earthling training, Lenny found himself in the city of Bridgeport.  He was set up with a small apartment in a seedy part of town and was ready to start work in the lab first thing Monday morning.

At first it was exciting, meeting new people experiencing new things.  He found a local watering hole and spent many evenings there.  Nobody seemed to question him to closely.  They would just smile and nod when he said he was "From out of town and it's complicated".  Lots of people had the same story.  Topics turned to the weather or the local sports teams.

The months went by and soon he felt the same way he did on his old planet.  Same stuff every day.  Really boring, too.

To be continued...

Five Years of Sims 3

Yeah, so today is almost over and I didn't even realize The Sims 3 was released today.  As a Simmer 4 Life I should really note these days and be ready with quips and quotes.  I'll work on that.  But for now I'll just share a quick reflection on what this game means to me.

I started playing The Sims on day 1, missed a few expansion packs.  I got into The Sims 2 late in the game but finally managed to get the whole game, minus a few stuff packs.  The Sims 3 I've also been playing since the beginning and have bought all the expansions and all the stuff packs even when I didn't have a computer to play it on.

It's my favorite game of the three.  I know there are bugs and glitches but I don't care.  It's become everything I thought it could.  For right now I can see myself playing it long after it's officially over.  I just have way too much invested into it.  And that's about it.  Nothing big, nothing amazing here.  It's simply just my escape from things where I can create my own little world and just want my little pixel people go on about their day.

Not sure I can feel the same about Sims 4.  There's just not enough info out there yet for me and unless things change for me I probably won't have the money to get it either.  So there's that.  In closing I'll just throw this out there.

The first screenshot I took in The Sims 3.
Looks like Serendipity is waiting for something to cook.
Such is the life of a Sim.

This is the first video I recorded in The Sims 3.
Too bad I didn't know to turn the sound on.  Looks
like one guy like it.  Is that a Frio brother?

So that's it.  I have quite the collection of mostly pictures now that I really should do something with.  Like something BIG! But like many of my other projects it's bigger than I have time for.  Such is the life of a Simmer.

Sim Acres Presents The Sim of the Year

Presenting the first annual Sim Acres Sim of the Year!!!  After careful consideration the sim who is the simmest of the year is Serendipity Sunflower.  My first Sim, my best Sim!

She's been a rock star, Leader of the Free World, Stylist (House of Serendipity-Sunset Valley), Author (Alien Zombies Ate My Pie, Young Llamas In Love), Artist, Resort Owner (Seaside Serendipity-Isla Paradiso, Serendipity Resort and Casino-Lucky Palms) and World Adventurer (France).  Now currently Sing-A-Gram-ing her way to the top in Roaring Heights!

The worlds most interesting Sim?  Perhaps.  She's tops in my book!

Congrats, Serendipity!  You couldn't do it without me!

Happy Happy 2014!

Well, made it through another year!  Lots of up and downs for me and my Sims.  Saw the end of this chapter in Sims history and the beginning of a new one.  Nothing against Seasons (I know that was 2012 but computer problems pushed it to 2013 for me) and University Life but Island Paradise and Into the Future were both an amazingly fantastic way to finish things up.  Nor do I want to forget Roaring Heights.  It's really my favorite world right now.

Mostly what I want to do is just take a few steps back and look at the stuff I haven't done or played with yet.  I know there are people that are playing a do-it-all challenge but that's not really for me.  The last thing I want is for my game to feel like work.  Get so wrapped up in little details that I forget to enjoy what I'm doing.  So I'm doing that in my own way.  For example, I took my go-to sim Serendipity Sunflower and put her in Roaring Heights and having her Sing-a-Gram her way to the top of the Singer profession.  I have to admit it's not the most exciting performer profession to watch.  And do the residents really need encouragement after every workout?  But it's not a bad way to tour the town and to meet the residents.

I also may give another go to starting over with a fresh Sim in Sunset Valley and just trying to play through all the expansions in some form.  I tried it once before but the game got messed up and of course I didn't have a back up.  Stupid of me, I know.

I would also like to put more work into this blog and the tumblr page.  I think I really need a creative outlet because I really do have tons of ideas and I do love when the stuff just comes together *cough Christmas Posts cough*

And mostly if I can figure it out and probably by working at it actually try to get a real audience to visit beside spam bots.

In closing here are some random pictures.

And Gunther Goth in a fruit hat, because why not!

Here's going 4th into 2014 Simtacularly!*

* I haven't had enough sleep. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

In the Spirit of the Season III

Act 3

Cornelia put on her special festive outfit and did some last minute preparations.  She was happy to see Mortimer excited for the party.  Cornelia knew Mortimer was just looking to get lots of gifts but hoped that the memories would last longer.  Even if he wasn't happy with the sweater she picked out for him.

Cornelia also had a special festive outfit picked out for Gunther.  Even in a pretty package he knew it wouldn't even be as good as an ugly sweater.

Gunther felt like an idiot but knew it was what he had to do.  After all it was just one day a year. Though he did have a flashback from Love Day but it quickly faded.*

Agnes came over early to help set up.  They got reminiscing about the past and all the fun they had growing up.  They also wistfully remembered all the family that was no longer there.  Agnes made a comment that made Cornelia pause but before she could say anything Mortimer was yelling about a clogged toilet.

Right now the most Cornelia could hope for was that this would turn into one of those moments that she would laugh about one day.  Probably not for a long time, though.

While Cornelia was unclogging the toilet, Gunther checked on his surprise.  He hadn't heard anything and was getting concerned.  It wouldn't be the end of the world if things didn't work out today but it's like even though the candy tastes the same the day after it's 50% off for a reason.

After a quick text Gunther found his surprise on it's way.  The doorbell rang and Cornelia answered it to find her cousins from Moonlight Falls.  She hadn't seen them in may years and by her squeal Gunther knew he knocked this one out of the park.

All the girls got together in the living room and exchanged stories and looked at old photos.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and shared their own memories.  Mortimer got an earful of his mother's early years and looked at her in a completely different light.

The day flew by and pretty soon the festivities were winding down.  Promises were made to keep in touch and to get together more often.  People left with full bellies and memories of a happy Snowflake Day.

Later that evening Gunther and  Cornelia found themselves alone in the living room.  Mortimer was fast asleep in his room.

"How did you manager to track down my family and bring them here?" Cornelia asked.

Gunther shrugged, "Well, Agnes was a big help and they were more than happy to come down.  And a little bit of guilt goes a long way."

"And you were able to keep it from me!" exclaimed Cornelia.

Gunther chuckled, "You were so wrapped up in getting this party together you barely noticed anything else!"

Cornelia laughed.  They snuggled on the couch and watched as the fire burned down.  The mess could wait until the morning but for right now everything was perfect.

The End

Happy Father's Day!

Salute to Dads!

For making sure we were at least in the right room for sleeping.

Just for knowing that boy was trouble before we did.

For giving us the appreciation of good music
before we knew what good music was.

And just for being one half of the pair
responsible for bringing us into the world
(and the house)!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads near and far, dad-substitutes, new dads, old dads and any one else that falls in a dad or dad-like category!

Random Picture Thursday

Throwback Thursday!  I guess that's supposed to mean something but whatevs. Leisure Suit Larry found his way (along with his buddys Duke Nukem and Joanna Dark, star of Perfect Dark) to Sunset Valley and here he is out on the town.

 At a disco, of course.

And on a date with woman he met online.  Asking her for her sign, of course.
It's probably "Stop".

Here's the happy family at home playing video games, of course.

Might do more with these crazy kids because they've been pretty fun to play.  Especially since I've also located them in Lucky Palms.
