In the Spirit of the Season III

Act 3

Cornelia put on her special festive outfit and did some last minute preparations.  She was happy to see Mortimer excited for the party.  Cornelia knew Mortimer was just looking to get lots of gifts but hoped that the memories would last longer.  Even if he wasn't happy with the sweater she picked out for him.

Cornelia also had a special festive outfit picked out for Gunther.  Even in a pretty package he knew it wouldn't even be as good as an ugly sweater.

Gunther felt like an idiot but knew it was what he had to do.  After all it was just one day a year. Though he did have a flashback from Love Day but it quickly faded.*

Agnes came over early to help set up.  They got reminiscing about the past and all the fun they had growing up.  They also wistfully remembered all the family that was no longer there.  Agnes made a comment that made Cornelia pause but before she could say anything Mortimer was yelling about a clogged toilet.

Right now the most Cornelia could hope for was that this would turn into one of those moments that she would laugh about one day.  Probably not for a long time, though.

While Cornelia was unclogging the toilet, Gunther checked on his surprise.  He hadn't heard anything and was getting concerned.  It wouldn't be the end of the world if things didn't work out today but it's like even though the candy tastes the same the day after it's 50% off for a reason.

After a quick text Gunther found his surprise on it's way.  The doorbell rang and Cornelia answered it to find her cousins from Moonlight Falls.  She hadn't seen them in may years and by her squeal Gunther knew he knocked this one out of the park.

All the girls got together in the living room and exchanged stories and looked at old photos.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and shared their own memories.  Mortimer got an earful of his mother's early years and looked at her in a completely different light.

The day flew by and pretty soon the festivities were winding down.  Promises were made to keep in touch and to get together more often.  People left with full bellies and memories of a happy Snowflake Day.

Later that evening Gunther and  Cornelia found themselves alone in the living room.  Mortimer was fast asleep in his room.

"How did you manager to track down my family and bring them here?" Cornelia asked.

Gunther shrugged, "Well, Agnes was a big help and they were more than happy to come down.  And a little bit of guilt goes a long way."

"And you were able to keep it from me!" exclaimed Cornelia.

Gunther chuckled, "You were so wrapped up in getting this party together you barely noticed anything else!"

Cornelia laughed.  They snuggled on the couch and watched as the fire burned down.  The mess could wait until the morning but for right now everything was perfect.

The End

In the Spirit of the Season II

Act 2

Cornelia set out about her tasks.  She searched and searched for ideas yet frustration built up!  But soon she did put together something amazing.

Things came together fast.  Cornelia went to Bridgeport and commissioned an old artist friend for some one of a kind decorations.  This was the year that the Goth family won the Holiday Spirit Home Decor Contest.  That snobby Nancy Landgraab's streak was over!

She ordered fish from Barnacle Bay and baked treats from Monte Vista.  She dusted off some old decorations from the attic to put around the house.  And searched for the perfect tree.

Gunther found himself on the roof putting up lights.  Sometimes he wondered how he ended up in these situations.

The decorations came from Bridgeport and they looked sweet!

And of course things wouldn't be complete without a snow theme!

But all the hard work was worth it!  The house came out great!  Even the Holiday Spirit Home Decor Committee thought so!  First place belonged to the Goths this year!

Before they knew it Snowflake Day was here and it was time for the big open house!  The invitations went out.  Gifts were bought and wrapped.   The food was being prepared and soon Cornelia would know if her plans were worth it.

Cornelia was worried because Gunther was mostly quiet this whole time.  And even though he did what was asked of him knew he couldn't be happy with all the chaos.  But little did she know that Gunther was working on his own plans to make a memorable Snowflake Day himself.

In the Spirit of the Season

Act 1

It was a weekend soon after Spooky Day and the first snow of the season was falling, Gunther was spending the day in his jammies and just wanted a deep fried turkey leg.  His plans were thwarted when Cornelia blocked his path to the deep fryer.  Gunther inwardly sighed because he knew there was no turkey leg in his near future.

"Agnes and I were talking about how Snowflake Day was such big thing when we were kids." said Cornelia.

"Yeah, I suppose it was.  The house always seemed to be filled with people during the whole season." replied Gunther. As the words left his mouth he knew where this was heading and immediately regretted opening that door.

"Yes!  It was so much fun!" exclaimed Cornelia.  Gunther waited for her to continue.  After a short awkward pause, she did.

"Well, this all came up because Martha Simmert had a 12 page spread in the holiday issue of Sim Ladies Journal.  And it got me to thinking that it would be fun to bring that sort of tradition back.  I mean it won't be too much longer before Mortimer would rather spend holidays out with his friends than at home..."

Gunther sighed again.  Anytime she brought up ideas like this it was always for Mortimer's sake.  Not that he would complain but more work always fell on his shoulders.  After a bit more talking they decided that they would host an open house on Snowflake Day.  Just like the ones they used to know.

Not wanting to leave Mortimer out of things Cornelia found some old books with stories about Snowflake Days past.  Soon things would kick into high gear and there would be little sleep until Spring!
