Random Sims Musing 10-6-13 Sim City Update Edition

I just got finished reading this article about the State of Sim City.  Now I don't own this game but I may get it eventually especially once The Sims 3 has finished it's run and I have money to spend on other things.  :)  The size of the maps has been an issue since Day 1 at least when the servers were working at the time and an offline mode.

Again not having had played it except for a beta version on a computer that couldn't handle it and just going on my experience with previous versions I think I may be okay with a smaller city size.  I usually get lost when I tried bigger cities and preferred the smaller ones.  The guy did say that did look into it and it just wouldn't work out.

Reading the comments on articles like this always makes me laugh..  Some of the commenters don't understand what goes into something this huge.  I believe I may have mentioned this in another musing but the creative teams behind this have to make something that runs for the majority of players and yeah things are going to fall on the wayside (or whatever that  phrase is).  It's nothing personal, people!

What I do think is that they took a really good game and made some really bad decisions with it.  Online only was the biggest one.  It really shouldn't been added later and optional.  But it is what it is and they have to live with those choices.  Hopefully they can come up with and offline mode.  Not that it will still satisfy everyone.

Ahh, people are just a bunch of crybabies and whiners.

Random Sims Musings 9-24-13

Just watched the two demos of the new store world Midnight Hollow.  Now while there's nothing much about the whole concept of it that makes me want it, I'm quite impressed with the detail that went into it.

I was never a fan of OFB in The Sims 2.  I found it frustrating because I could never keep up with the businesses, a little too like real work.  Not fun.  Having said that I loved building the little shops and restaurants even if I hated playing them.  I still don't understand the gushy lovey feeling that people have for that expansion or Sims 2 in general.  I never really got to play it since I got into it so late in the game.  And now I don't think I could even go back and try to appreciate it again after playing Sims 3.

So now there are finally some OFB elements in the Sims 3 and people still aren't happy.  They're pissed off because it's not the way they want it to be.  Maybe this just annoys me because I have to deal with the public for work.  And it just seems like people are pissed off for everything lately.

I'm not saying that The Sims 3 is a perfect game, of course it's not.  I haven't had most of the problems that other people had with it.  But when I did, I fixed it.  Though my pizza oven still doesn't work, when it used to and I finally had to remove the deep fryer from the grips of Cornelia Goth because she was dying of hunger while deep frying bacon.  Besides that I still find more stuff to like than to hate.

This is what I want to say to all the complainers...

• Stop taking everything so personal.  EA/Maxis and all the creators of this game are not out to piss you off.  Get over it besides there are always mods to fix your problems with this.
• There's so much that has to go into getting anything from concept to final product.  Everything has to work with just the base game to every expansion.  Older computers to high end gaming machines.
• Things aren't going to be like they were in The Sims 2 because it's not.  If you liked things that way, play with them in that environment.
• The creative teams do listen to what the fans want.  They keep saying it and look at the stuff out there.  There's lots that have come from fan suggestions.  Again just because it's not what YOU want doesn't make it wrong.

I for one can appreciate all the hard work that goes into the creations even if they aren't things I would necessarily want.  I get frustrated with just the little bit of creating I've done with this crappy blog and other projects.  I'm just so tired of the same people whining over and over about the same things.

This guy has something to complain about.

Random Sims Musings 9-12-13

Yeah, it's been awhile but again it's not like anyone but me reads this thing so yeah.  Anyway, lets see what's been going on in the Sims World.

The embargo was finally lifted on the Sims 4 Build Mode and it sounds pretty good.  I'm liking the sound of the magazine mode or whatever they're calling it.  I like the idea of blueprint mode in Sims 3 but it was hard to judge how things would look without previewing them and it just seemed like the different room styles didn't match from room to room.  Like different doors and wallpapers.  Uh, all the country stuff should match.  Just saying.  I like building but I'm not so good at doing it from scratch.  Some of my favorite lots have been renovated ones.  I'm more satisfied in the end reworking something because I just get frustrated when I can't get things to work from scratch.

The Movie Stuff Pack was released and it's better than I expected.  Not quite sure what I'm going to do with the stuff from it but I've already used some of it in my household of video game characters.  Now that's something I can put together for my many blogs!  I don't seem like I play much anymore but I do.  That could be musings for another day.  Again, it's not like I have an audience for this thing.

And lastly, there's a new world coming.  Looks nice and the premium content is something that's been wanted by players for like EVER!  Just not excited by it.  I was never that big of a fan for OFB in Sims 2.  I found it more frustrating or honestly more like real work.  I didn't even build that many stores or businesses.

I downloaded a ton of shit though and used it once.  Useless downloads, noted for another musing topic.  I built more shops and stuff in The Sims 1.  I made a whole downtown area with all sorts of things.  I even made sure all the street lights were spaced perfectly.  Loved that downtown.  Okay I will admit I did make one town in The Sims 2 that I liked and filled it up with all kinds of shops but most of them were ones already from the game that I changed the stuff around.  I'm gonna have to pass on this world.  I don't play most of the worlds anyway.  I'll try them out but I keep going back to Sunset Valley.

Time for a random picture!  I'm pretty sure this fridge came in the base game and I just noticed that it has this screen on it.  So cool if that actually worked!
